Founder and Director, Dr. Macrene Alexiades
Dr. Macrene Alexiades, who holds three Harvard degrees, BA in Biology, MD and PhD in Genetics; 35+ year research background, runs her Park Avenue and Hamptons private practice clinics in dermatology and laser surgery, clinical and skincare research facilities, organic farm, and a lab where she formulates her skincare line MACRENE actives. She is first and foremost an artist and sculptor and uses skincare, injectables and devices to achieve a natural look in her patients.
Macrene Alexiades MD PhD
received her three degrees from Harvard University: a B.A. from Harvard University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and awarded the Fay Prize, the highest undergraduate honor; a M.D. from Harvard Medical School where she was Dean's List and recipient of the Paul Dudley White award, and a Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University, where she received grants from the NIH, National Eye Institute and Radcliffe. She is Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University and Adjunct Professor at Sigros Hospital, University of Athens. A Fulbright Scholar in bioengineering in Europe, Dr. Alexiades achieved the rate status of double board certification in medicine, surgery and dermatology in the EU as well as the US. At Harvard, she excelled in portrait art and sculpture, but ultimately chose medicine and science, and was profiled in The New York Times and Vogue for her artistic skills in dermatology, injections and lasers.
She was selected Chief Resident in Dermatology at New York University School of Medicine and awarded the Husik Prize. A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Laser Medicine (ASLMS) and Surgery and a Goldman Circle Member, she is a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, New York Magazine Top Doctor and featured in numerous Who's Who awards. She conducts FDA clinical trials for Allergan and many other laser and pharmaceutical companies, collaborates with Rockefeller University and is long-time dermatologist for L'Oreal and Lancome. She is a recognized expert in radiofrequency and women's health devices, and was awarded the Richard E. Fitzpatrick Award, the top laser prize for her research at ASLMS. She is the inventor and manufacturer of scientifically active clean skincare, MACRENE actives, with actives isolated from her organic botanical farm and lab. Her products have been widely recognized with awards from CEW, QVC, Neiman Marcus and Allure magazine, and featured in Vogue, Town & Country, Elle Magazine, WWD, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times.
Dr. Alexiades's Board positions include Abbibie/Allergan, Candela, Cutera, JoyLux, and ASLMS. She is Assistant Editor for Dermatologic Surgery and Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, and Reviewer for New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA Dermatology, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Journal of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, Cosmetic Dermatology, Journal of Photobiology and Photomedicine and Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, among others. She has authored many textbooks. She has chaired sessions for ASDS and ASLMS. A Castle Connolly and New York Magazine Top Doctor for many years, she is biographed extensively in Who’s Who and received Dr. Brandt Innovator Award, Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award, ASLMS Best Overall Abstract Award and Dr. Richard E. Fitzpatrick Clinical Research & Innovations Award. She is a representative for the Laser Institute of America.
Dr. Alexiades has served as a voluntary physician at the Veteran's Administration Medical System for 20 years. She is an attending at: Yale/New Haven Hospital, Yale/West Haven VA Hospital and Northwell Health. She is a Diplomate of both the American and European Boards of Dermatology and Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Alexiades has hundreds of publications and discoveries in the fields of basic science, dermatology and laser surgery. Her experience as a portrait artist and sculptor has made her the top in her field for achieving a natural and classical beautiful result with injectables. Her practice and academic work are focused on topical dermatologic anti-cancer and anti-aging therapies, laser technology and skin rejuvenation.
Dr. Alexiades is the author and Editor of the seminal textbook Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery published by Wolters-Kluwer-Lippincott which provides the first disorder-based algorithm approach incorporating the medical, cosmetic and surgical treatment options.
